In a letter, 1863 December 21, John Miller, Fort Magruder, Va., writes to his parents mentioning a fire at Yorktown which exploded three magazines. In a letter to his parents, 1864 June 19, Miller, Williamsburg, writes that Grant has moved his whole army on the South Side of the James River and to "look for some good news before long from him."
